Intelligent wayfinding within hospitals and nursing homes
Hospitals and nursing homes are known for a large flow of visitors. There are so many departments, waiting rooms, doctor’s offices and other facilities especially in hospitals which means that a good and current wayfinding is a necessity. The large number of visitors hospitals have to cope with daily can profit optimally of the Smart Signs components. To know one’s way around in a hospital will become very easy, user friendly and efficient. Below you will find an extensive example scenario in which we show you how our Smart Signs components can be deployed.
Mr. Jansen has an aching chest and is being sent by his G.P. to be treated further by a heart specialist in the hospital.
The G.P. already makes an appointment for Mr. Jansen with the heart specialist, so that he does not have to bother with it and the hospital knows exactly about the situation.
Mr. Jansen arrives at the hospital together with his daughter and announces himself with his patient card at the reception. Since Mr. Jansen is a bad walker, his daughter gets him a wheelchair. Because the patient card is equipped with communication technology, personal information can be given specifically to Mr. Jansen and his daughter. Of course, instead of a patient card some kind of tag can be used as well.
The first Way Sign indicates that Mr. Jansen can go to the first floor by elevator. Contrary to Mr. Jansen, the person next to him gets instructions to take the staircase. In this case the Way Signs take into account the user preferences/ disabilities.
After Mr. Jansen has been brought to the waiting room of the heart surgeon via the most optimal route, he is being welcomed by a Message Board. Through this Message Board Mr. Jansen also gets the information that there is one more person waiting before him and that he has to count on a 20 minutes waiting time.
Once at the heart surgeon, it appears to be necessary to have a blood test done right away. The heart surgeon plans an appointment immediately.
Subsequently Mr. Jansen is being guided by te Way Signs through the fastest route towards the Blood Withdrawal department.
After the blood withdrawal has succeeded and Mr. Jansen is not in need of any other treatments in the hospital, he decides to bring a quick visit to his sister, who lies in the same hospital with a broken leg. The Way Signs present guide him towards the department. Once he has arrived at her room, he sees on her Door Sign that she is awake and is pleased to welcome visitors.
